Six years after its first spectacular visit, the celebrated La Scala Ballet returns to the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden this summer, under the direction of its Artistic Director, Frédéric Olivieri, with Rudolf Nureyev's acclaimed production of The Sleeping Beauty.
Stars of La Scala Ballet - Sabrina Brazzo, Marta Romagna, Gilda Gelati, Mick Zeni and Alessandro Grillo will be joined by guest artists Leonid Sarafanov and Guillaume Côté, together with an array of outstanding character dancers and La Scala's renowned corps de ballet.
Nureyev's breathtaking choreography retains the purity of the original by Petipa, whilst heightening its dramatic and theatrical impact. Tchaikovsky's sublime music combined with a magnificent visual feast of sumptuous sets and stunning costumes by Franca Squarciapino, imbue Perrault's beloved fairytale with wonder and excitement.
